It is with deep sadness, but also with gratitude for his life, that we announce the passing of Jean Elie Voigt, born December 27, 1955, in Cap-Haitian, Haiti, to Marie Dugue Voigt and Paul Voigt (deceased). He departed this life on February 28, 2026.
Jean Elie was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose life was centered on family and connection. He was a proud graduate of Baruch College with a degree in finance and later went on to serve others while working as a nurse. He was one of eleven siblings and cherished being part of a large and close family. He was a proud member of the Voigt, Dugue and Dubois families.
He is survived by his siblings: Charles Voigt, Marie-Jose Voigt, Lirio Voigt, Antonin Paul Voigt, Marie-Hosane Voigt Othelot, Josthia Voigt Fuertes, and Davide Voigt Malinowski, and was preceded in death by his siblings Hughette Voigt and Jeanette Voigt.
Jean Jean, as many close to him referred to him, was the loving father of Anya Voigt and Jean-Erick Voigt, and the proud grandfather of three grandchildren: Zavier Voigt, Ziev Voigt, and Zoe Voigt. He was also a cherished uncle to 22 nieces and nephews, and his life touched many extended family members and friends.
Throughout his life, Jean Jean was many things to many people: a mentor, a business owner, an investor, an advisor, and a confidante. He believed strongly in supporting family and helping others when they needed it. He had a deep respect for numbers and a keen memory for financial matters, and he used these skills to positively impact those he loved and cared for.
Jean Jean found joy in the simple but meaningful things in life — family gatherings, sharing good food, discussing finances and opportunities, finding a good bargain, and staying connected with the people he loved. Above all, he loved speaking with family and friends on the phone, often checking in just to see how someone was doing. It was not uncommon for many to hear from him multiple times a week.
For many, Jean Jean was the one who kept everyone connected — the voice on the phone, the person checking in, the one who helped keep family ties strong. His presence helped keep the family’s rhythm alive, even in the small things, such as reminding people of upcoming birthdays. His departure leaves a distinct quietness in our phones and in our hearts.
Though we mourn his passing, we also trust that his spirit now rests in peace and that his memory will continue to guide and inspire those who knew and loved him. The love he shared, the wisdom he offered, and the connections he nurtured will live on through his family and through all those whose lives he touched.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
May the Lord grant comfort and strength to all who mourn him and may the light of his life continue to shine through the family and friends he leaves behind.
The family sincerely thanks all who have offered their prayers, support, and love during this difficult time.
