Obituary of Gaetano Pugliese
Gaetano "Tom" Pugliese, 86, beloved husband of Sylvia Pugliese passed away quietly with his family by his side at his home in Farmingdale, NY, on May 9, 2018. Tom was born in Brooklyn on September 3, 1931, to loving parents the late Michael and Rose Pugliese. He is remembered by all who knew him as a loving, kind and caring husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.
Tom married his childhood sweetheart, and love of his life, 65 years ago while serving as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War. His three sons, Michael, Alfred and Thomas, and devoted daughter-in-law Donna, were blessed
to have him as a caring and devoted father, whom they loved dearly. Tom
and Sylvia raised their family in Richmond Hill, NY, before moving to Farmingdale 23 years ago.
While in Queens, Tom helped found and was the president of the Richmond Hill
Block Association. An avid baseball enthusiast, Tom was a little league
coach and devoted life-long New York Yankees fan. He was also a disabled USMC veteran who was proud of his service to his country.
He was cherished and will be missed by his family and their spouses, to include his sister Rose Marie DiBenedetto; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Lynn Pugliese; sister-in -law and brother-in-law, Julia and Joseph Campanella; sister-in-law Dorothy Fasano; grandchildren, Renee, Thomas, Michael, Andrew, Danya, Evan and Tavis; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Peter, Dylan, Nicholas and Michael; and nieces and nephews, Ralph, Emily, Roseanne, John, Alfred, Joanne, Roseanne, Laura, Victor, Paul and Michael.
Tom suffered from Parkinson's Disease the last few years of his life, and in lieu of flowers, his family respectfully request that a donation is made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research
