Renni Abey

Obituary of Renni Abey

Renni Abey, age 49, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre, NY. She was born February 11, 1970 in Kerala, India (Alunilkunnathil, Variyapuram) to late Thomas David and Chinnamma Thomas.

Renni immigrated to the U.S at the age of 10 and through hard work, dedication and perseverance, she lived the American dream. She graduated from Richmond Hill High School in 1988 and received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from York College (Queens, NY) in 1992. She was employed by NY State Department of Taxation as a Tax Compliance Agent for the past 25 years where her co-workers described her as loving and thoughtful.

Renni served the Lord faithfully as a member of New York Gospel Assembly (NYGA) for the past 39 years. Born again and spirit filled, she was baptized at the age of 16 and became an active member of the church lending a hand or two to anyone and anywhere it was needed.  She continued to live a life of self - sacrifice as she ministered to the less fortunate serving the Lord alongside her husband, Abey, in their ministry in India as a co-director for Life Changing Mission and New Generation Ministries. She taught Sunday school for many years at NYGA, served as Sunday school director and was actively involved in the youth ministry.  She was the daughter that made a mom proud, the sister that lent a helping hand, the mom whose love never fell short, the wife that was a constant support, the employee that went above and beyond, the church member that filled any gap, the aunt who understood you like a mother and a friend who would give up her life for another. She has truly impacted every generation that has come to know and love her.  The world has lost a one of a kind “queen” but our queen has earned her eternal crown as she ran and finished her race faithfully without ever questioning why.

She is survived by her husband Abey, by her children, Jonathan, Julia and Timothy, her mother, Chinnamma Thomas and her siblings, Roy (Anne), Reju (Mariamma), Rini (Ben), and Rony (Jocelyn). She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas David.
