On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, Anthony Joseph Affrunti, loving husband (briefly widowed) and father of two passed away due to cardiac arrest with complications from Lewy body dementia and Parkinson’s. He was pre deceased by his wife of 51 years by just over a week.
Anthony was born April 6, 1947 to Joseph and Catherine (McBride) Affrunti and was the youngest of four children. On June 19th 1971 he married Emily Jane Larkin and had two sons Anthony and Brian.
Anthony had an associate’s degree and was an accomplished machinist, mechanic and engineer. He was the proprietor of Affrunti Packaging corporation in the 1980’s based in Brooklyn prior to working for a myriad of companies in a supervisory role in various mechanical and maintenance departments. He was also employed as an engineering supervisor at Wonder bread in Jamaica New York. Anthony enjoyed black Jack and roulette in trips earlier in life to Las Vegas and later in life to Atlantic City. He loved picking a winner at the races and introduced his sons to Roosevelt Raceway where early winners for them would lead to a lifetime of involvement in the sport of kings either as employment or enjoyment. Anthony was a fan and shared in season tickets for the inaugural season of the New York Islanders and watched them grow into a dynasty in the early 1980’s. He was a great father who showed his love, spirit and guidance through more actions than words. He was his son’s friend while also their father. He will be terribly missed. His love shall always carry on.
