Obituary for Thomas Deegan

May 10, 1959 - February 1, 2025

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas Deegan, 65, who lost his battle with Ocular Melanoma on February 1, 2025. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Thomas passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.

Thomas was born in May 1959 and spent over 35 years working as a dedicated union plumber with Local 1, where his skilled hands and strong work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. His work was more than a job—it was a passion—and he took great pride in the craft he mastered over his lifetime.

In addition to his career, Thomas was deeply committed to helping others. Whether it was lending a hand to a friend or providing a listening ear, he was always there for those in need. He had a generous spirit and an open heart that made him a pillar of his community.

Thomas was a lover of life, with a particular passion for Irish culture. He reveled in the sounds of Irish music, often strumming his guitar and singing songs of his beloved Donegal, Ireland. He cherished the connection to his heritage and loved to share that with his family. He had a particular fondness for cooking and enjoyed preparing hearty meals for those he loved. Known for his simple pleasures, Thomas found joy in the little things—like drinking a glass of milk and savoring time with his family.

Thomas is survived by his devoted wife, May; his loving daughter, Melanie; his cherished grandson, Colin; his dear siblings, Gracemarie and Patrick; and his mother-in-law, Madge. He was also a proud father-in-law to Connor. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Thomas’s life will be held on February 6, 2025 from 4-8pm at the Park Funeral Chapels, and February 7, 2025 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Victory Church. Family and friends are invited to share in remembering the man who gave so much to those around him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Ocular Melanoma Foundation in his honor.

Thomas’s legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will be remembered forever. He is now at peace, reunited with his loved ones in heaven.

May he rest in peace.
