Very saddened to hear of dear John's passing. John and his son, Paul, were friends of mine from my NYRA days, and beyond. Always enjoyed seeing John in the paddock at Belmont Park; always had time to say hello!
You were a fine horseman- and a kind soul. May you rest in peace! My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Toscano family.

When I was a Jock Agent the one person I could always count on for help was Papa Toscano .He always found me a winner but even more than that was I would spend an hour a day in his office just listening to the AWESOME racetrack stories he would tell ..He was also a GREAT handicapper and I would make sure to follow his Derby selection every year he was almost ALWAYS spot on.After training around 11am every morning you would find John and the entire Toscano Mob as we all referred to them as in the little kitchen where John would hold court it was better then any TV comedy show.Thiose days will ALWAYS be filled with GREAT memories especially when he would refer to his sons as the “Brain Trust”.John rest in peace & I hope we ALL meet again someday @ the big racetrack in the sky!!!!

I don’t know where to begin !
Da (Johnny) was my second father . I spoke to him every morning at 730am. My girls Gianna and Gaby called him “Uncle Da”. He was my mentor, my friend and my fatherly figure. Until we meet again , I will always have a void in my heart .
There’s a saying …
“ You never know what you have until it’s gone” . Well , I knew what I had but I didn’t think it would be this hard !
Da , you’re with all the great horseman in Heaven !
We’ll meet up one day and enjoy the races from Heaven !

Absolutely heartbroken. John was an amazing kind person. He was always kind and caring to me. We shared a lot of laughs at the barn and the back of the morning line. I’m going to miss when I called you or I saw you “ What Ya Doing! Trav,”. With that big smile on your face. You paved the way for people like me so we could get involved in this game.
