Obituary of Julia Banguela Arcadipane

Julia Banguela Arcadipane, 83, of Queens, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

 

Julia was born in Santa Clara, Cuba, on January 7, 1942, to Maria Teresa Banguela de Pedrero and Salvador Banguela.

 

She came to the United States (to Brooklyn, NY) on Sunday, November 22, 1959, at the age of 17.  By the following Monday, she got a job in a factory sewing sweaters.

 

Julia would go on to enroll and finish her education at Thomas Jefferson High School, New York Community College, and St. Frances College, all while working at least one full time job.

 

Julia found her professional calling as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist and rose to be the director of many hospital’s Nuclear Medicine departments over the years.

 

Her hard work offered her the ability to do many things that she loved dearly.  This includes traveling the world, spending time with friends and family, enjoying weekends and social events at her beach house on Fire Island, and supporting her family in Cuba throughout the years.

 

Julia is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Juan Tomas Banguela.

 

Julia is survived by her husband of 57 years, William Arcadipane; son, Salvador Banguela Arcadipane and his wife, Frannie DeSimone Arcadipane; her grandchildren, Massimo and Marco Arcadipane; and by her many  in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, both here and in Cuba.
