Obituary of Teresita Castano Stein
Teresita Castano Stein, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025, with her loved ones at her side. She was 64 years old.
Born on June 20, 1960, in Colombia, Teresita brought warmth, joy, and an unshakable love for family wherever she went. She made her home in New York, where she worked for many years as a dedicated bookkeeper, balancing not only ledgers but also the lives and hearts of those around her.
Teresita is survived by her devoted husband David, her cherished daughter Diana Castano and son-in-law Philipp of Freiburg, Germany, and her loving stepdaughter Alexis Burke and son-in-law Dillon of Kings Park, New York. She also leaves behind her dear sisters, Clara and Gloria; nieces and nephews, Gloria (Louis), Sara, and David; and great-nieces and nephews, Sebastian, Jacqueline, Magdalena, and Maximo.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Noelva and Ceaser, and her brother Ceaser.
Teresita’s joy in life was evident in everything she did—especially in family gatherings, her love of dancing, and time spent at her treasured home in Colombia. She brought light into every room and left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
A memorial to celebrate Teresita’s life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Park Funeral Chapels, 2175 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park, New York.
In keeping with Teresita’s bright and joyful spirit, she requested that friends and family feel no obligation to wear black. Her life was one of color, laughter, and connection—and she wished to be remembered that way.
Teresita’s legacy lives on in the love she gave, the family she cherished, and the joyful rhythm that danced through every moment of her life.
