Obituary of Aleykutty Varghese

Mrs. Aleykutty Varghese was born in Kallumadical house, Thuruthy near Changanacherry on April 20, 1941. She was the third child of six children of Mr. Joseph Kallumadical and Mrs. Thresiamma Kattady Kumarankary.
Amma (Aleykutty Varghese) received her nursing degree from Medical College of Nagupur. She was a compassionate caregiver who worked at various Medical College Hospitals in Kerala and retired as a superintendent of Kottayam district hospital. Her passion for caring extended beyond her professional life as she actively volunteered her time to support her friends, family, and neighbors at any time of the day or night. She was a devoted member of the Mothers Forum at Marth Mariam Forane church where she offered health education sessions to empower individuals with less knowledge. The community will remember Amma as “Aleykutty Sister” not only for the professional achievement but also for her generosity in sharing her time to impact many lives in their difficult times.
She lived with her loving husband Kunnathu John Varghese, her daughter Tess John, and Regi Biju along with her sons-in-law Denny (Jose T. John Thoompumkal) and Biju (Kurian P.J. Pullikottu) as well as her 6 grandchildren; Ashley Biju, Avelin Biju, Nevin John, Sandra John, Noel John, and Shannon John.
She was a very religious woman and led her life based on her regular reading of the Bible and Holy Qurbana. She made sure to raise her children with strong faith by having evening prayers. She shaped the love she gave so freely. She was a true blessing to all who were fortunate enough to be around her. Amma will be deeply missed but her memory will live on in our lives.
