Obituary of Domenick A. Marinaro
In Lieu of Flowers:

Domenick Alfred Marinaro, 89, of New York City, passed away on June 27, 2025, just shy of his 90th birthday. He was born on August 4, 1935, in Greenwich Village and remained in New York his entire life. The city wasn’t just his home, it was part of him.
Domenick began his career as an undertaker before running his own ambulance company in Brooklyn. He was quietly successful, never flashy. You never knew if you’d catch him in a suit or a loosely buttoned shirt, but you could always count on him for a sharp joke, a good story, a strong opinion, or an extra rubber band on his wrist “just in case.” He had a habit of walking out of diners with a little something extra: a sugar packet, a butter knife, or anything that helped him hold onto how special each family meal was.
He was tough, no doubt. But beneath all that grit was a man who loved his family deeply. He didn’t always say it, but he showed it in his own way. He was proudly Italian, loyal to his traditions, and believed every good meal should end with a cannoli or a slice of Italian cheesecake. His pride in being American was just as strong. “God bless America” wasn’t just something he said, it was something he lived.
Domenick was preceded in death by his father, Domenico Marinaro, and mother, Lucia Canterino; his brother Peter; his sisters Tana, Angelina, and Diana; and his previous wife, Alice.
He is survived by his longtime partner Frances, his brother Frank (Maryann); his children: Domenick, Steven (Pat), Michele, Grace, and Lucas; his grandchildren: Emili (Dustin), Elizabeth, Michael (Hannah), Alec (Caroline), Cristian, Kayla (Jimmy), Cameron, and Anthony; and his great-grandchildren: Damian, Maren, Eliza, Easton, Jamison, Ellis, and Simeon.
Please join us in celebrating Domenick’s life. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM at Park Funeral Chapels, located at 2175 Jericho Turnpike in New Hyde Park, NY.
