It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel T. Pantino, beloved husband, brother, uncle and patriarch of our family, on July 1, 2025, at the age of 90. Dan left us peacefully surrounded by the enduring love of his family.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, on May 2, 1935, Dan was the cherished son of the late Thomas and Grace Pantino. He grew up in a bustling, close-knit neighborhood where his love for family, storytelling, and life’s simple pleasures first took root.
Following his honorable discharge after serving in the U.S. National Guard, Dan pursued a successful career as an electrical-mechanical designer, retiring in 1992 following many dedicated years of service at Bell Laboratories, New York University and Frequency Electronics.
On April 11, 1981, Dan married the love of his life, Angela Pantino (née Vellucci). Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, warmth, and gatherings that centered around what Dan valued most - family. Their home in New Hyde Park, and later in Garden City, was a welcoming haven for relatives and friends. Summers were often spent in Rocky Point, with Dan at the helm of his boat or manning the grill at a family barbecue. His quiet joy came from these simple, perfect moments: a game of bocce on the lawn, the sizzle of the barbecue, the sound of loved ones’ laughter filling the air.
Dan is survived by his devoted wife Angela, his brother Russ, and a loving circle of nieces and nephews: Thomas Pantino, Kim Florio (Ray Florio), Christine Pantino (Stephen Gheerow), and Michael Pantino. He was a proud great uncle to Christopher Florio, Julia Pantino, and Chloe Gheerow. He also leaves behind Angela’s cherished family, Johanna Owen, Kristin Bates, Erik Owen, Kylie Bates, Niko Bates, and Kacie Bates, who were not just extended family, but beloved parts of Dan’s heart and life.
Those who knew Dan will remember his gentle spirit, his quick wit, and a sense of humor that could lift any room. He was a man who led not with words but by example, showing us daily that kindness, loyalty, and compassion were the cornerstones of a life well-lived. Dan never spoke ill of anyone, and his wise, steady presence was a source of comfort and strength for us all.
As Maya Angelou so beautifully said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Dan made us feel loved. He made us feel safe. And he made us feel like we belonged.
Dan’s absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.
