Obituary of Hilda T. Ignes

Hilda Del Transito Ignes (née Riveros), age 76, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, in Mineola, New York.

Born on May 19, 1949, in Valparaíso, Chile, Hilda was the daughter of Rene Riveros and Alicia Astorga. She grew up alongside her siblings Ana, Dilma, and Luis Riveros. In 1972, at the age of 23, she made the courageous decision to immigrate to the United States in search of new opportunities and a better life.

Hilda was known for her heart of gold and her unwavering commitment to helping others. Her generosity and compassion left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Whether offering a kind word or lending a helping hand, she lived her life with empathy and grace.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Cindy Torres and son-in-law Gabriel Torres. Hilda was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her first granddaughter, Emma Alicia, expected in November 2025. Her sisters Ana Riveros and Dilma Riveros also survive her. Hilda is remembered as a loving aunt & cousin. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Luis Riveros.
