Patrick Stenson

Obituary of Patrick Joseph Stenson

Patrick J. Stenson, affectionately known to family and friends as 'Paddy', was born on September 11, 1965 in the Bronx. Raised in Elmhurst, Queens, Paddy was a proud graduate of Ascension Grammar School, Archbishop Molloy High School, and St. John's University. He loved music, travel, food, friends, family and his favorite sports teams -- the Mets, Jets and LA Lakers. A successful entrepreneur, he owned several highly successful bars and restaurants in Manhattan, the most notable of which (and his personal favorite) was The Village Tavern on Bedford Street --- which is still going strong 25 years later.

Paddy had a tremendous setback in December 2011, suffering a traumatic brain injury and subsequent related illnesses which changed his life forever. Yet that did not stop him as he diligently worked with a variety of physical/occupational therapists, doctors and other professionals to maximize his strength and overcome deficits. Through it all, he amazingly remained positive, engaged and full of good humor.

Paddy was predeceased in life by his loving father, Thomas, in 1989. His mother, Bernadette has been an unrelenting champion for him these last 13+ years as he faced extraordinary challenges. He was equally supported and loved by his brothers and sisters in law, Thomas (Mary) and Aiden (Susan) as well as all his nieces and nephews - Brigid, Nora, Rowan, Aiden, Olivia and Ava. Lastly, the life Paddy was able to enjoy these last twelve years would have been impossible but for the amazing and tender care provided by his full-time aide and friend, Cesar Fajardo.

We will miss him terribly but remain faithful that we will be reunited with him in Heaven one day.
