Obituary of Nancy George

Nancy George, born Nancy Pothen went to be with the Lord on Saturday,

September 6th, 2025 at the age of 64. She was born on July 31st, 1961 to Late

K.P . Pothen and Thankamma Pothen into the Uthumkuzhi Vadaketthil

family in Kaviyoor, Thiruvala, Kerala. She was the youngest of seven

children. She completed her schooling in Thiruvala and worked as a

homeopathic doctor for several years.

In 1989, Nancy married George Philip. Guided by a deep spiritual calling,

she was baptized and embraced the Pentecostal faith, a commitment that

became the foundation of her life. Together, they raised three children in

Trivandrum before immigrating to the United States in 2008, sponsored by

her older sister Daisy Abraham and her husband, Kuriakose Abraham. After

settling in New York, she worshiped faithfully at Christ Assembly of God

church in Franklin Square.

Nancy worked multiple jobs since coming to New Y ork and ultimately

found a job working for the New Y ork City Social Services Department. Her

perseverance and hard work did not go unnoticed especially by her three

children who are eternally grateful for her sacrifices.

Soft-spoken yet determined, Nancy carried herself with quiet strength

and a heart full of compassion. Her radiant smile lit up any room she

entered, and her gentle words had a way of soothing those around her. She

faced life’s challenges with remarkable resilience, never allowing hardship to

shake her faith. Prayer was her anchor, and she spent countless hours

interceding for her family, friends, and church community. Nancy lived her

faith daily—not just in words, but in the way she served others with humility,

patience, and kindness. She had an extraordinary ability to make people feel

seen, valued, and deeply loved. To her family, she was the foundation and

steady rock, the one they could always count on for encouragement,

guidance, tenderness and unconditional love.
