Obituary of Joseph R. Rando
It is with profound love and sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Richard Rando, who was born on July 10, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, and passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, in Delray Beach, Florida, where he resided. He was 96 years old.
After graduating from Brooklyn Technical High School, Joseph proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country with honor during the Korean War from September 1948 until April 1952, when he was honorably discharged.
Following his military service, Joseph followed in his father’s footsteps and, together, they founded Rando Tire Inc. in Manhattan, New York. Through hard work, determination, and a steadfast commitment to excellence, they built a respected business that stood as a testament to their partnership and family legacy.
Joseph and his beloved wife of 70 years, Mary Lou, were devoted members of the Order Sons of Italy in America, Cellini Lodge, for over 30 years. Joseph served as President from 1999 to 2001 and as a State Trustee for two years, contributing countless hours to support the organization and the community, while bringing warmth, humor, and leadership to all who knew him.
An avid fan of the New York Mets and New York Rangers, Joseph also loved thoroughbred horse racing, golf, and dealing blackjack at the Cellini Lodge Annual Feast. Through the years he delighted friends and family with his unforgettable repertoire of jokes.
Above all, Joseph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Mary Lou Rando; his children, Robert (Laurie), Donna Chiappetta (Dave), and Ronald (Annette); his grandchildren, Christina Auriti, Gregory Rando, Christopher Rando, Joseph Rando, and Lisa Toriello; and his great-grandchildren, Reese Rando, Gianluca Auriti, Jack Rando, Giuseppe Auriti, and James Rando. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Rando and Elizabeth Brandi Rando.
