It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Gerard Schiraldi on October 12, 2025. Gerard was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a cherished grandfather whose warmth, humor, and generous heart touched everyone who had the good fortune to know him.

Gerard is survived by his loving wife, Maria Schiraldi, his partner in life and love. Together they built a home filled with laughter, strength, and unwavering devotion. He was the beloved father of Alfred Schiraldi (Laura) and Maria Benkovic (Rich), who will forever carry his wisdom, humor, and compassion in their hearts.

Gerard was also the proud grandfather of six adoring grandchildren — Victoria Schiraldi, Sarah Benkovic, Richie Benkovic, Gerard Schiraldi, James Schiraldi, and Kate Benkovic — each of whom brought him immeasurable joy. His face would light up at the mention of them, and his stories and jokes often centered on the pride he felt for his family.

A lifelong Mets fan, Gerard loved nothing more than cheering on his team — win or lose — and sharing a good laugh about the ups and downs of the season. Known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, he had a joke ready for every occasion and could make anyone smile, even on the hardest days. His laughter was a gift that brought comfort and connection to all who knew him.

Above all, Gerard will be remembered for his love of family, and his ability to bring joy to those around him. He taught by example — through patience, humility, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple blessings.

Though he is no longer with us, Gerard’s love and laughter will echo forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
