Kwabena Awuku

Obituary of Kwabena Ofori Awuku

The passing of Mr. Kwabena Ofori Awuku closes another cherished chapter in the annals of the Awuku and

Saint Victor families.

Kwabena was born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 11, 1983, to Mr. Emmanuel Boadi Awuku and Mrs. Marie Yanick Saint-Victor. Kwabena was the youngest and only son of the lovely couple. Elated by the birth of their prince, they hosted a grand celebration that foreshadowed the joy, light, and warmth of his life. Kwabena grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and the strong family values that shaped the compassionate and vibrant man he became.

Kwabena began his early education at P.S. 189, before his family relocated to Queens in February 1989 in search of a new beginning. He continued his studies at P.S. 80, where he graduated and went on to attend Middle School 231. Kwabena later pursued his High School education at Martin Van Buren High School, where his warmth, charisma, and creative spirit began to shine brightly.

From an early age, Kwabena displayed a passion for music and singing. His natural talent led him to collaborate with a local producer, and alongside two close friends, their singing group called Entaraj was formed. His love for music reflected his deep appreciation for life and connection with others.

Kwabena's educational journey continued as he attended Farmingdale State University and later York College, where he pursued his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. His dedication to

growth and learning was matched by his commitment to his community. He worked with the New York City Department of Education at BFIT and HARTS High School for several years, impacting the lives of countless students. Most recently, Kwabena began a new chapter of service with the New York City MTA as a bus operator, once again demonstrating his devotion to people and public service.

Beyond his professional and academic life, Kwabena lived passionately and fully. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and a proud member of the Ruff Ryders Crew of New York, where he built lasting friendships and shared his love for the open road. His adventurous spirit mirrored his approach to life, bold, free and full of purpose.

A man deeply rooted in faith and service, Kwabena answered a higher calling later in life. On July 12, 2025, he was ordained as a Chaplain, a reflection of his compassion, faith, and unwavering commitment to helping others. His ministry and his presence brought comfort, encouragement, and light to all who crossed his path.

A true international traveler, Kwabena embraced life with open arms. He loved people deeply, gave freely, and carried a joyful spirit wherever he went. His generosity, humor, and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.

Kwabena is remembered by his devoted parents, Emmanuel Awuku and Marie Yanick Saint Victor, his Godparents, his cherished siblings, Adwoa Awuku, Akua Awuku-Elias, Afua and Daniel Awuku. He also leaves behind his beloved Maternal Grandmother Tulie Vignier-Louis, his adoring nieces and nephews, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, godchildren, and dear friends. Kwabena's memory will be treasured by his wonderful girlfriend, Danielle who brought great joy and happiness to his life.

Kwabena, as you journey onward, may your soul find eternal peace and your light continue to shine in the hearts of all who loved you.

We will miss you deeply. Rest in peace, Kwabena.
