Maria Cicione Obituary

Maria Concetta Cicione was born August 1, 1937 to Emil and Jennie Vecchio. She was the eldest of four children, her brothers Joseph, Michael, and Emil, where they lived in Woodside, Queens. 


 


After attending secretarial school, she worked as a bookkeeper in New York City where she would schedule musical acts in various clubs around the city. She met her husband, Benito (Ben) John Cicione through a mutual friend and were set up on a blind date. They had their first date at The Jolly Fisherman in Roslyn and they were together ever since. They married on April 21, 1963. They moved to New Hyde Park on Long Island where they raised their three children, Phillip, Maria, and Jonathan. She helped Ben run his pharmacy, Elbee Chemist, on Union Turnpike during the week, and on weekends they would spend time out with their children.


 


Maria was a devoted Catholic. She volunteered her time to the Notre Dame Parish and was a member of the Rosary Society. She was a member of the Columbiettes, Cellini Lodge, Homemakers of New Hyde Park, Leisure Club and the Red Hatters. She was a loving Grandma to Linda, Conor, Brendan, Concetta, Benjamin, and Jack. She was a generous Grandma who loved to summer with her grandchildren in Shelter Island, the Hamptons, and Aruba. 


 


She is survived by her brother, Joseph Vecchio; her children, Phillip (Jacqueline) Cicione, Maria (Charles) Mulé, and Jonathan (Clara) Cicione; and her grandchildren, Linda (Ryan) Kobel, Conor (Laura) Cicione, Brendan Cicione, Concetta Mulé, Benjamin Cicione, and Jack Cicione. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Benito John Cicione in 2003. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
