Annie Mathew Obituary

Annie Mathew was born to the late T. J. Mathai and his wife

Aleyamma of Thekkinethu House, Konni, faithful members

of St. Peter’s Orthodox Church, Konnapara. She is lovingly

remembered by her three brothers—T. M. Samuel, T. M.

Joshua, and Raju Mathai—and her three sisters, Kunjamma

George, Jaya Rajan, and Jessy Reji.

On January 22, 1973, Annie married her beloved husband,

Benni Mathew. They made their home in Kochi, Kerala,

where Benni was employed with FACT, and together they

built a life grounded in love and faith. They lovingly raised

two daughters, Nima Isaac and Dr. Nija Mathew.

Benni came to the United States in 1986, and Annie joined

him with their children in August of the following year. They

settled in Floral Park, New York, where they continued to

build a close-knit and faith-filled family life.

Annie was a devoted member of the Long Island Mar

Thoma Church and later St. John’s Mar Thoma Church,

remaining active in worship and community life. She found

joy in cooking for her family, in cultivating a garden

abundant with fruits and vegetables, and in nurturing the

beautiful plants and flowers that surrounded her home.

Her life was marked by deep devotion to God and

unwavering dedication to her family. She had a courageous

resolve, generosity of spirit, and a firm, radiant faith that

uplifted everyone around her. She also shared a treasured

bond with her family in India, cherishing the laughter,

stories, and precious moments shared with her brothers,

sisters, and their families.

Annie’s memory will be lovingly held by her husband,

Benni; her daughters, Nima and Nija; her sons-in-law, Dinoj

and Ashok; and her grandchildren—Chris, Elsa, Bea, Ezra,

and Levi—who brought her immense joy.
