Brian Anthony Bacchus Obituary

Brian Bacchus, 59, beloved father and friend passed away on March 23rd, 2026. Born on July 17th, 1966 to Jim and Norma Bacchus in New Amsterdam, Guyana, he spent the first 10 years of his life in Berbice before moving to Brooklyn, New York in 1976.

A proud graduate of Baldwin High class of ‘84 and Queens College, Brian began a long career in banking in 1991. His commitment to facilitating home ownership to the public led him to establish Amsterdam Mortgage in 1996. For 35 years he was respected for his knowledge and dedication, eventually leading him to Hanover Bank in 2022.

A man of many talents and passions, Brian was a gifted artist, cook, and a lover of nature. He loved the beauty in simple things, and shared this appreciation through his food and art. He took every opportunity to give back to the community becoming a prominent member of Boy Scouts troops #225 and #409 and volunteering to coach youth soccer in Baldwin.

In his later years Brian enjoyed traveling to spend time with family abroad as well as treasured trips to reconnect with old friends. He loved to explore the world around him, and found joy in new friends and new experiences.

He is survived by his former wife, Jessie, their three children: John, Madeline and Natasha, and his siblings Debbie and Jimmy. Brian’s memory will live on through his family and friends, continuing to enrich the lives of all he touched with his love and grace.
