On March 26, 2026, Frances Anne Sweeney of Garden City, died peacefully at NYU Langone Hospital of natural causes.  She was surrounded by her loving family.  Frances was the wife of Francis X. Sweeney of 1 Kilburn Road, Garden City, New York.

She is survived by her loving husband and eight adoring children Ellen Gamber, Kathleen Sweeney, Maryanne (John) Reilly, Tricia (Tim) Brown, Barbara (Ed ) Kneafsey, all of Garden City, Luke Sweeney of Miller Place, NY, Michael Sweeney of Rockville Centre, NY and Sean (Elizabeth) Sweeney of Washington D.C.  Frances is predeceased by her parents Anna and Carmine Yovine, her son-in-law Mark, daughter-in-law Lorraine and daughter-in-law Colleen.  Frances was also the loving grandmother, or “Mamama” to Jack (Alana) and Mike Gamber, Christina, Meghan and Kevin Sweeney, Molly, Maggie, Elizabeth and Liam Sweeney, Katie (Tom) Hart, James, Anna and Sean Reilly, Aidan (Grace), Frances and Brian Brown, Caroline and Matthew Kneafsey, and Harper and Jack Sweeney. She was also a doting great grandmother to Oliver Hart of Bermuda and a beloved aunt and cousin to the Sorvino, Gillespie, Yovine and Madaus families.

Frances’ spirit of faith, compassion, service and family will carry on in the lives of her cherished family as well as all those whose lives she touched.
