Franco Bommarito Obituary

Franco Bommarito, 73, of West Hempstead, NY, passed away peacefully on March 31st 2026 surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born on November 18th 1952 in Burgio, Sicily to Giovanna & Giuseppe Bommarito.

Franco, will be remembered for his kind heart, His humor, His Laughter, His smile, His willingness to help others, His dedication and love for his family and friends. He had a passion for scratching Cash word tickets. It made him happy. He loved Holiday gatherings and being the poker keno announcer at every Christmas. He made everyone laugh with his Italian accent when he called out the cards. Lastly, he loved to dance and he loved his Italian 70s music. He had such a sweet voice when singing them, his family, especially his grandkids, will cherish those moments of singing and laughing together forever. He adored his wife so much and can’t thank her enough for all the love, support, the struggles, in sickness and in health, She was always by his side, and there are no words of how thankful he was. His kids and grandkids meant the world to him. He showed unconditional love and had a special bond for each one of them. Every Sunday was the most important day of the week because we were all together as a family, the House was filled with love, laughter, and joy. Thats how we started the first day of the week, always.. we will never forget and we will always continue. He spent much of his life as a tile mechanic and was so proud of his work. He would always remember every job he did and the precise location. Whenever anyone needed directions they would always ask him because he was our own personal Navigation. To know Franco is to love him. He would give his shirt off his back for his family and friends, he was always there with a helping hand when he could. His heart grew weak, but he was still so strong.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine ; his children, Giovanna Galeno (Andrew), Antonella Luckman (Joseph), Amanda Vadala (Joseph) and three grandchildren who adored him, Andrew, Gianni & Giuliana. Can’t forget his first Grand Dog Dougy and his Favorite “Poppy”Donnie. He was preceded in death by his siblings; Fina Palisi, Caroline Florio (Jerry), Vincent (Joe) Bommarito (Patricia), Brother In-Law Domenico Bellitti (Claudia), Sister In-Law Anna Bellitti (Chris) and All of his Nieces & Nephews.
