Obituary of Paul John Albonetti
Paul Albonetti, 79, passed away on June 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on February 18, 1947, in Astoria, Queens, Paul lived a life defined by kindness, compassion, and a genuine interest in the people around him. He was the type of person who never met a stranger. Whether speaking with a lifelong friend or a neighbor he encountered on one of his daily walks, Paul always wanted to know how people were doing, how their families were, and how their children were growing up. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, valued, and cared for.
Just two months before his passing, Paul was diagnosed with cancer. True to his character, he faced his illness with courage, determination, and strength. He fought hard throughout his journey and was never alone. His family remained steadfastly by his side, spending countless days and nights with him in the hospital and later during home hospice care, surrounding him with the same love and devotion that he had given so freely throughout his life.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret; his son, John; and his daughter, Megan, all of whom were the center of his world.
Paul found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved following the pony races on Saturdays and always kept a close eye on the stock market. After retirement and following a stroke, he found renewed purpose in his daily walks around the neighborhood. Those walks became a cherished routine, not only for the exercise but for the conversations. Paul genuinely cared about people. He loved catching up with neighbors, hearing about their families, and celebrating the accomplishments of their children and grandchildren.
Family meant everything to Paul, including his cherished fur grandchildren, Shiloh and Richard. He adored them and never missed an opportunity to ask about them, spoil them, or share stories about their latest adventures. They brought him endless joy, comfort, and laughter, and held a special place in his heart.
To his family, Paul was far more than a husband and father. He was a source of unwavering love, wisdom, comfort, and support. His gentle nature, warm smile, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
His daughter Megan often described him as her favorite person, and those who knew him understood exactly why. Paul possessed a rare kindness that made others feel welcome and important. He was the kind of man who remembered details, checked in on others, and genuinely cared about what was happening in their lives. His absence leaves an immeasurable void, but the love he shared and the memories he created will remain with those who loved him forever.
Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Paul is finally at peace. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless acts of kindness he extended throughout his life.
We will always think of him as the Angel that was sent to us when we needed him most and kept us surrounded by love. Dad, we know those angels are surrounding you now.
Paul will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
