Obituary for Evelyn Spiegel

January 6, 1936 - June 16, 2026

Evelyn was born on January 6, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY to her parents Charles and Margaret Spiegel.  She was born the last of five children - Agnes, Margaret, John, and Charles all who have predeceased her. She was raised in Brooklyn and later moved with her family to Richmond Hill, Queens.  After her parents’ passing, Evelyn and her brother John moved to a home in New Hyde Park where she resided until her passing.

She began her career in the 1950s at Mutual of New York (MONY) where she spent many years as an actuary before her retirement.  It was also where she met her best friend in life, Joanne Tartaglione.

Evelyn is survived by Joanne, her nieces and nephews Barbara Carroll, Thomas Spiegel, James Spiegel, Michael Spiegel (Renate), and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.  They will always remember Evelyn’s smile, her wonderful sense of humor, love for her family and friends, and her love for traveling with Joanne.

Evelyn passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026 at 90 years of age with family and friends at her side.
