Obituary of Cristobal Fidencio Stewart

Cristóbal Fidençio Stewart affectionately known as “Boysie” to his family and friends, age 82, passed away in Jamaica, New York surrounded by his family on November 27, 2018 at the Chapin Home for the Aging. He was born on November 16, 1936 on the beautiful Caribbean island of Carriacou,northeast of Grenada, to John and Eliza (McLawrence) Stewart. As a young child, Cristóbal and his family moved to the island of Curaçao where he and his brothers were raised.

As a young man, Cristóbal migrated to the United States, became a citizen, trained, and worked as a licensed practical nurse at some of the New York’sfinest hospitals for many decades. 

Cristóbal’s special interests and hobbies included spending time with his family and friends, watching movies, listening to music, and working.  He loved his family, enjoyed raising his children and supporting his family in the states and in Curaçao.

Some of his favorite times were spent in his home in Curaçao and sitting on his veranda. He is survived by Marie Stewart, former spouse and mother of his beloved children; daughter, Cynthia Marie Stewart (Mark) and son, Cristóbal FidençioStewart, Jr. (Sophia); five grandchildren; Christopher Lockley, Illianna Rivera, Cristóbal Stewart, III, Gabriel Stewart, and Matthew Stewart; His beloved brothers Carl, Caroll(Winnifred), Clarence, Gladdin, Horise, Dovie Stewart (widow of eldest brother, Hermie), and many nieces and nephews, which he loved tremendously. 

Visitation services will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 5:00p.m. – 9:00p.m.Funeral and cremation services will be held on the following day on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 9:30a.m. The funeral home information is listed below:
