Obituary of Maureen E. Zaikowski

Maureen E. Zaikowski Nee Lang of Bayside Queens, New York. June 1945 – May 26, 2020. Devoted wife of John (Ziggy) F. Zaikowski Jr. for 54 years. Loving mother of six children: Carolyn, John III, Thomas, Richard, Brian and Maureen. And eleven grandchildren: Christopher, Kati, Dana, Brianna, John IV, Sarah, Alina, Benjamin, Abigail, Richard II, and Liam. And numerous nephews, and nieces. Maureen was a long time resident of Garden City Park, New York and a member of Holy Spirit Parish in New Hyde Park, New York. Maureen graduated Bayside High School in 1963 with stenography skills and worked for Irving Trust Bank in New York City as an executive secretary. Maureen married John Zaikowski on May 28, 1966 and started their family, and moved to Garden City Park in 1972. During those years Maureen often volunteered as a class room mother at the Garden City Park Grade School, held positions and other volunteer work with the Cub Scouts, Boy Scout Troop and Girl Scouts. When her children got older, Maureen started a second career as an instructor at the Cherry Lane Gymnastics facility in New Hyde Park, New York where she excelled in teaching toddlers preschool gymnastic routines. Maureen loved her job a Cherry Lane and worked there for over thirty years. The total number of children she worked with numbered well over a thousand. Maureen was also an avid bowler for over 40 years earning many awards and trophies. Her final team was with “The Powder Puffs” at Herrill Lanes in New Hyde Park, New York. Maureen will be sorely missed by all family members, friends, and acquaintances whom respected and loved her dearly………….
