Obituary of Mariamma Parackel

Mariamma D. Parackel August 5, 1947 - March 12, 2021 Psalm 34: 3 -4 “O magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears” Mariamma D. Parackel entered into the presence of her Lord and savior Jesus Christ to enjoy the promise of eternal peace on March 12, 2021. Mariamma was born on August 5, 1947 to the late Antony Chittilapilly and the late Mariam (Cherchy) Chittilapilly (Koratty, Kerala). She was the second of six children. She completed her nursing education and worked at King Edward Memorial (KEM 8) Hospital in Bombay. She married David G. Parackel on January 27, 1974 and moved to Kuwait shortly after for a new nursing opportunity. In 1980, she immigrated to the United States and worked as an ER registered nurse at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY for 18 years. Mariamma is survived by her husband of 47 years, David G. Parackel; sons George Parackel and Anthony Parackel; daughter Amy Francis and husband Feji Francis; two grandchildren who she loved dearly, David and Aviva Francis; two sisters, Rosamma Mathews and Alfonsa Paul; and two brothers, Thomas Chittilapilly and Jose Chittilapilly. She was preceded by her sister, the late Annie Joseph. Mariamma was a woman of remarkable faith and great strength. She was hard-working nurse, a keen card player and a storyteller to anyone that would listen. She was a generous person and continued to help many of her friends and family throughout her life. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and a mother figure to her younger brothers and sisters. Even as her health failed her over the years, she tried her best to take care of her husband and sons. To her daughter, she passed her kindness, generosity, and strength. Mariamma was loved by so many and will be dearly missed by all.
