Marie Sainvil

Obituary of Marie Solide Sainvil

Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, in 1952, Marie Solide Sainvil, “Sonine,” began her journey through life. Sonine was a generous and loving woman who dedicated her life to helping others. She was the oldest surviving daughter of Stephen Vilsaint Estinvil and Vilcina Vilsaint and was raised in a strict Christian household with her eight siblings in Haiti. Eventually, Sonine met and fell in love with Cinelas Frank Bonhomme, and they had seven children together. In the 1980s, Sonine moved to New York with her children, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant for over 30 years. Sonine was the matriarch of her family and gave her all to others. She was a fierce and devoted mother to her children and grandchildren. Many other family members and friends considered Sonine as their second mother because of the unconditional love she poured onto them. She was always there and willing to pray and cry with a loved one in need. And her generosity is unmatched. Sonine even adopted many people living in Haiti as her second family and consistently sent money to them. Best known as the master of Haitian Cremas, Sonine’s talent in creating this traditional Haitian drink is exceptional. Her annual July 4th parties at her home in Elmont made priceless memories. Sonine was humorous and loved to laugh and dance. Everyone that knows Sonine has their favorite witty remarks from her. Most importantly, Sonine loved the lord and walked the path of righteousness. Marie Solide Sainvil was an angel on earth, and now she is in her rightful place in heaven.
