Obituary of Carlos M. Santarina

It is with great sadness, we regret to announce the passing of our loved one Carlos M. Santarina 72 of Jamaica, New York. Carlos passed away on May 24, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at NYU Langone Hospital in New York City.

Known to his vast circle of family and friends as  Pogie, Carleng, Caloy, Charlie, he was born in the Philippines on August 12, 1950 to Norberto Santarina and Marcela Meclat.

Carlos immigrated to the United States with his brothers and sisters in 1975 where he resided in Jamaica, New York and worked at Flushing Hospital for many years before retiring.

He will be remembered for his love of life, watching sports and his cooking but most of all for being a loving, caring and generous person who always put the needs of others before his own.

Carlos is survived by his only daughter Sheri Ann and those who had a special place in his heart Genita, Lorna, Joe, his siblings Oscar, Elisa, and Amelia, his brother and sister-in-law‘s, his nieces and nephews and friends.

A Catholic, Carlos joins his parents Norberto and Marcela and his siblings Romeo and Zenaida in eternal light.

He will be sorely missed but lovingly remembered by those who knew and loved him.
