Obituary of Noubar Mahdessian
Noubar Onnig Mahdessian passed away at the age of 92 on Saturday, July 22nd, 2023 in St Petersburg,
Florida. Noubar was born in Egypt on November 16, 1930 and raised in Nicosia, Cyprus with his three
brothers, Dickran, Haig, Vahan, and his sister Katherine.
In 1957 he immigrated to the United States and settled in New York City. He worked at his uncle's dry cleaning
business while attending school at NYU at night. In 1960 he purchased Madame Paulette Dry Cleaners from
his uncle and ran a successful business with the support of his son John and family for over 60 years.
In 1962 he married the love of his life, Ann Vetzigian on Dec 23. They have three children, Laura, John, and
Gregg. They have 5 grandchildren, Nicholas, Christian, Leo, Mark, and Ben.
He was a loving, kind, and generous husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to all. He was always ready to
reach out and help those in need. He was a church-loving man and was very generous to The Armenian
Church and supporting organizations. His pockets were always filled with candy to bring smiles to all. He was
an avid sports fan and loved to watch games with his children and attended many sporting events to watch his
grandchildren play. He was always supportive and encouraging to many people, both young and old.
Noubar loved to travel the world with his wife Ann. They took many cruises to exotic places and made friends
all over the world. Upon retiring from the family business he relocated to St. Petersburg Florida to spend his
days with Ann, soaking up the Florida sunshine.
Noubar is survived by his wife Ann, children Laura (husband Alan), John and Gregg (wife Nancy), 5
grandchildren, sister Katherine and many nieces and nephews.
