Remembering Al Doerbecker

Longtime Point Lookout resident Al Doerbecker, the beloved husband to Marie, father of Heather, David, Kurt, Alicia and Albert, and grandfather of Shelby, Kellen, Axel, Jolie, Aiyla, Kaia, AJ, and Kennedy, passed away on October 12, 2023.  He loved Point Lookout and enjoyed long walks on the beach and bike rides all across our barrier island.  He was an avid baseball fan and active in little league baseball, first with his sons and later as an umpire for many years around Long Island.  He spent much of his winters with Marie and his family at Hunter where he was an expert skier and popular ski instructor and mentor.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Al’s name to the Kurt Doerbecker memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund was set up to honor his son Kurt who passed away in 2011 and is used to support young athletes in their baseball journey.
