Obituary of Emilia Hannaberry

Emilia Hannaberry (née Powers) died peacefully on December 16th, 2023 in Manhasset, Long Island at the age of 60.

Emilia is survived by partner Travis, daughter Eleni Ann, aunt Mercy Ruth, cousins Emmanuel, Grace and Melissa (husband Dan), nephews Kai and Sage, nieces Chloe and Makenna. She is preceded in death by mother May Ann Powers (née Gatanela) and father Enrique Arboleda.

Emilia was born on July 7th, 1963 in Makati, Philippines to Enrique Arboleda and May Ann Gatanela Powers. She attended International School of the Philippines before moving to New York in July 1980 where she attended Hilllcrest High School in Queens. She graduated from Hillcrest in June 1982.

She married Edward Hannaberry in October 1986.  The union brought them their daughter Eleni. Emilia was always very proud of her daughter and her life revolved around Eleni. 

Her daughter remembers her as a loving mother who encouraged her to pursue her dreams of becoming an anesthesiologist. Eleni will graduate from her anesthesia residency in July 2024 and begin her career as a physician at Glen Cove Hospital. 

Emilia was passionate about music and loved singing (especially Karaoke). She also loved socializing with her friends/family and always made time for them. She was a very selfless person who was always willing to provide a shoulder to lean on or an ear to listen. She was never one to complain or feel sorry for herself even when things were difficult in her life.
