Obituary of Yvette Slattery
Mrs. Yvette Slattery, a beloved member of the West Hempstead community known for her warmth and unwavering kindness, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2024, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Rockville Centre. She was 96 years old.
Born on May 28, 1927, Mrs. Slattery was a long-time resident of West Hempstead, New York. She actively participated in the community as a member of Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish and the Hempstead Golf and Country Club. Mrs. Slattery enjoyed spending time at the beach, holidays in the beautiful Catskills and travel with her husband and friends. She was passionate about playing bridge and was an active member of multiple bridge clubs.
Mrs. Slattery was born to Ludovic (Charles) Lemesnager and Sophie (Lucy) Lemesnager (nee Buri). She was preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph, her sister Yvonne Schmidt, and her infant daughter Christine Slattery. Mrs. Slattery is survived by her sons: Patrick, Daniel (spouse Rosemary; daughter Sabrina), Ronald (spouse Toshiko; son Kevin, daughter Lisa), and Timothy (spouse Diana (Dee); son Sean, daughter Kaitlin).
Mrs. Slattery was a dedicated mother who raised four boys and held the family together. As a grandmother she showered her grandchildren with love and support. She was selfless and spent long hours taking care of her family.
A wake will be held at Park Funeral Chapels in Garden City Park from 3pm-7pm on Tuesday, February 20th. A funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Slattery's life will be held at Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish at 10 am on Wednesday, February 21st. in Rockville Centre, NY.
