Obituary of Annamma Punnoose
Annamma Punnoose Chilampath was born on September 2, 1923 in Kaduthuruthy, Kerala, India. She was born to Chandy and Martha Manimala (Kurisummoottil). She was the youngest of two kids with an older brother, Alexander (Chandykunju). She was a devoted mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all. She was the last living elder of the Chilampath family.
Ammachy married Appachan (Late CK Punnoose) in 1943. Together, they had seven children, six daughters and one son. Appachan was tragically called to heaven in 1965. Even through this heartbreak, Ammachy brought up and educated all seven children. Ammachy immigrated to New York in the early 1980s and became very social in the Malayalee community and was especially active within the Knanaya Association. She was a former secretary for IKCC known for teaching Margam Kali and Malayalam to all.
She was a formidable woman who had the biggest soft spot for her grandchildren. Even though she had seven children, she said that her grandchildren gave her the most joy and happiness. She spent her years in America and India living with all her children while helping raise her 18 grandchildren.
She recently achieved a great accomplishment in September 2023 when she turned 100 years old. It was the day she looked forward to the most, spent with her whole family who came to celebrate her from near and far. She enjoyed the day with an unforgettable smile on her face.
She was the wife of Late CK Punnoose, and is survived by her children: Ammini & Thomas Varickamanthottiyil (Kallara, Kerala ) Lilly & late Jose Pulimparambil (Ayarkunnam, Kerala) Anne & Mathew Elayadathuthazhathu (NY) Pennamma & Mathukutty Parackal (SH Mount,Kerala) Chinnamma & Thankachan Chemmazhikadu (Houston) Joemon & Ancy (Chakkalapadavil) (NY) Moneymol & Shaji Malaickal (NY) Grandchildren: Manju, Manoj, Lijomon, Anju, Tina, Renju , Amy, Jessie, Renjith, Lijimol, Joegi, Tintu, Jasmine, Simi, Jaime, Nimmi, Jimmy, Vini 23 great grandkids, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
