Obituary of Michael Moore

Michael Albert Moore, affectionately known as Bertie, was born to
Claude and Hannah Moore on March 27, 1958 in Cove and John,
Guyana, South America. He was the last of seven children and
spent his formative years attending primary and secondary schools
in Guyana. As a young child he learned the truth of God’s word the
Bible from his mother, which led to Michael making the most
important decision of his life- to dedicate his life to Jehovah God
and be baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Michael graduated
from Hindu College (high school) in 1975 and was employed with
the ministry of education, teachers college division, until he
migrated to the United States in 1983.
He then married June Cato with whom he had three
beautiful daughters, Lezel, Monique and Mykela.
Michael later married Marva Devonish, with
whom he had a handsome son, Darren.
Michael attended Pace University in the United States and
was employed by Kidder Peabody, PaineWebber, UBS,
and later Macy’s department store.
Michael was an excellent cook, a skill that he learned from
watching his mother in the kitchen as a little boy. He loved to
laugh, and will be remembered for his charisma, witty
responses and infectious smile. He enjoyed music, dancing,
traveling, playing games such as chess, dominoes, and pool.
Micheal was very hospitable. He was known for always
entertaining and making sure that everyone was having a
good time. In 2017, Michael welcomed his only grandchild,
Dream. He loved spending as much time as possible with her
and making her laugh. During Michael’s illness, he turned to
the bible and bible-based information on JW.org as a source
of encouragement and comfort. This enabled him to stand
firm and be courageous to the end.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and
Hannah Moore and sister Ingrid Lewis-Wilson. He is
survived by his wife of 30 years, Marva, Children: Lezel
(Ron), Monique, Darren, and Mykela. Siblings: Paulette
(Gladstone), Patrick (Dawn), Gerald aka Herbert (Avril),
Rupert (Carolyn) and Carmen. Granddaughter: Dream, and a
number of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
