I am a former neighbor of Connie Smith when we both lived in L.I.C. In my childhood, I always remember Mrs. Smith to be a very classy lady and a wonderful "mom" to my two friends, Valerie and Barry. Our family moved away, and we all lost touch over the years. However, upon hearing of her passing, I wanted to light a candle for her and give her my respect. Sincere condolences to her whole family. Her memory will live on through her wonderful family. May she RIP.

Our dear cousin Connie, you've made us laugh and you've made us cry. You were faced with so much tragedy and sadness in your life but you overcame it all. Your brightest light was your son Barry who always gave you peace and hope. May you rest in peace now that you are in a better place. Our deepest sympathies go out to Barry and the Smith family as well as all the Simile's...God bless you all.

“There will always be a reason why you meet people. Either you needed to change your life, or you’ll be the one that changes theirs.”
I think it’s safe to say Bill and Frank Jennings changed Connie’s life in ways not many could even imagine. She always considered them her sons to the point she would even tell people they really were her twins. 25 years of friendship with many laughs, celebrations and life long memories they created together all came rushing back when they received the news that our beloved Connie passed this morning. She lived a beautiful long life for 87 years! Connie was a deland staple she came from New York and made Deland her home she made so many life Long friends here in our little town. Even weeks before she passed she had in her mind she was coming back to see all of us and sit on the street and share all of her memories. Rest In Peace, may you finally be reunited with your loved ones and look down on all of us you left behind. We love you always.
