For over 60 years, I had the pleasure to have known our dearest friend and colleague Prof. Giuseppe Battista. I will always remember him for his deep love and affection that he had for his wife Marisena, for his daughters and their families. We always remember him for his strong dedication and commitment to the teaching profession, for his love in teaching Italian and Spanish at Suffolk County Community College for over 40 years. We always remember him for his strong pride of being Italian American, for his love of the Italian culture and traditions(such as making wine at home and culinary art), for being a member of the Order Sons of Italy, and for his strong commitment and dedication to the American Association of Teachers of Italian at the Long Island Chapter and AATI National. We thank Prof. Giuseppe Battista for chairing the AATI National Exam for High School students for over 40 years.
We always remember Prof. Giuseppe Battista for his strong commitment and support of the Stony Brook University Summer Study Program and Westchester Community College Summer Study Program in Rome for over 35 years. Having spent a month every year with him as a colleague and friend for over 20 years, I was able to further appreciate his good soul, human values, and the relationship that Prof. Gioseppe Battista had with his students and colleagues. These experiences I will always cherish and be inspired.
Giuseppe, you touched so many of us, colleagues, family members, friends and students. Grazie Joe for organizing the annual dinner with all of our friends from City College. Thanks to you, some 20 to 30 of us were able to maintain our long lasting friendship to this day. Non dimenticheremo mai, we will never forget, your love and friendship. We love you, ti vogliamo bene.
My wife Emilia, my daughters Dina and Sandra and grandson Ethan would like to express our deepest condolences to his wife Marisena, to his daughter Denise, Deborah and Danielle and their families.
