Obituary of Giuseppe Battista

On November 18, 2021, Giuseppe Battista, loving husband to Marisena Marino, father to Denise, Deborah and Danielle, father-in-law to John, Domenick and Matthew and grandfather to Gabrielle, Nicholas, Joseph, Caroline, Jacqueline and Allison, passed away at the age of 85. Giuseppe was born on April 10, 1936 in Newark, NJ to Silvia and Gerardo Battista. He completed his college education at City College where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages in 1961. He then achieved his Masters Degree at Rutgers University in 1963 and later pursued a Doctorate of Arts in Foreign Languages at Stony Brook University. He taught as a professor in languages at Suffolk Community College for 40+ years. In addition, he worked as an adjunct professor at C.W. Post, Hofstra University, and Stony Brook University. He retired from his career with the title of Professor Emeritus. He always believed CUNY’s motto “the education of free people is the hope of humanity.” Giuseppe felt that the support, love, and inspiration of his family were the driving forces behind all of his endeavors. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
