Ray and I started working together in 2019. In mid 2020 Ray joined my team and since then we interacted almost every day. Ray enjoyed working in the technology field and he loved building new software solutions that challenged and expanded his design and programming skills. He had deep expertise and keen interest in the arcane parts of operating systems and other areas that were very important for our work. Ray architected and supported critical applications that hundreds of software engineers at our company currently use every day.
As a colleague and a team member, Ray was always kind and helpful. With his reliability, compassion, and humor he was very well liked by his colleagues. He shared his expertise generously, he was a skilled mentor for other team members, helping them grow and supporting them when needed. He would patiently explain to me technical topics that I often struggled to understand. Always composed, even in difficult situations, Ray was able to solve complex problems - he got us out of a tight spot more than a few times.
Ray had to endure his share of hardships and he did this without complaints. His father's stroke heavily weighed on him. He was saddened that he could not visit him more often due to COVID restrictions. Still, he was trying to stay positive and hopeful that his father's condition would improve. Ray was very proud of his sons and the joy that they brought him helped him through the difficult times.
When Ray told me about his diagnosis and in our subsequent meetings, I was inspired by his courage and perseverance. He insisted on continuing to work and contributing to our projects. In spite of deteriorating health, he remained resilient and stayed in touch with his team, providing helpful advice.
I witnessed only a small part of Ray's life but I feel very grateful that I have known him. Farewell Ray, may your soul find eternal peace.

Ray and I were seated next to each other, working at a start up company in the late 90s. He was kind and always respectful.
At the office we have seen the eyebrow go up and know that he was internally voicing “smoking crack”. Socially, we all loved the prankster ideas he had.
In the years I have known him, Ray was always mellow and managed things with a leveled head. Our families have intertwined and become friends. His wedding was a matchmaking event for me. He often refereed bickering tech comments between my husband and I.
Ray will be greatly missed and always remembered.
Deepest condolences to MaLi, Billy and Jimmy.

I am deeply saddened to hear about the loss of my colleague. Ray was a valued member of our team at HBO, known for his intelligence and passion for technology. He was also appreciated for his great sense of humor. Outside of work, Ray and I shared a common love for coffee. He introduced me to the art of coffee roasting and it has been a passion of mine ever since. Ray's influence and impact on me will always be remembered. My deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

I met Ray when he was starting LisaEm, and he got me interested in the Lisa filesystem.
From then on we had a lot of email exchanges, not only about the Lisa. We became friends.
And thanks to him, I became a better engineer. Thanks to him I pursued Aaru (formerly DiscImageChef).
I have no words. I will miss him greatly, his emails, and our conversations about any topic.
Thanks Ray, wherever you are now, for everything.

I met Ray while he and I were working at the same company in New York, in 2015. We kept in touch after I moved away.
Learning of his illness was hard for me because we had really just become good friends a few months prior, and I don't have many friends in the first place. But I was glad to see Ray determined to fight for his life -- and he did, even as he accepted the reality of each new piece of information. I encouraged him to fight his illness as well; it felt like he and I were brothers-in-arms against his disease. He did everything he could, I'm sure of it. I'm proud of him for that. And I accept, just as he did, that not everything is under our control. I think Ray was more balanced about this than I am, and I admired his courage and tenacity combined with his acceptance.
Probably the fondest memory I have of Ray is: one day I was having a rough day at work. He silently put a few pieces of chocolate on my desk to the left of my keyboard as I was typing and walked off. :) He saw me having a hard time that day and helped me feel better. Somehow that small gesture from Ray will always stick with me, I guess because it was so kind.
Ray and I talked by text most days within the past year. We both liked "memes" and had a similar sense of humor to each other. We sent too many memes to count (though I may try). When I struggled to know what to say or do it became commonplace for me to send him a few memes, which he usually laughed at. Ray did the same. We joked that we were doing "good work" but, really, it's true; the levity Ray and I shared in this way helped us both communicate and feel better during his hardship -- just like Ray helped me feel better that day at work seven years ago...
May he rest in peace.
With sympathy and love,
Chad and Violet

I’ve been fortunate to have know Ray since 1997 at the start of my professional career in IT. We worked 3 jobs together, and had continued to be friends since. Aside from the many heavy metal concerts we’ve attended together, we’ve had the pleasure of assembling our families together on many an occasion. Heck, Ray’s wedding to MaLi was the catalyst for my own relationship and eventual wedding.
I can only describe Ray as a gentle giant. He put on a good public show of his masculinity, but those who knew him well saw through that, exposing his loving and caring attitude towards those close to him and his consideration towards others.
I’m thankful for having known Ray, and am a better person because of it.
It was a privilege to host his Lisa emulator site for many years in support of his online legacy. It was an even greater honor to be called his friend.
Rest easy, dude.

I never met Ray in person, but we corresponded a lot in the 90s about Lisa. He was so very grateful when I loaned him Lisa manuals to scan, and provided a lot of help and insight as we both learned more about the platform.
I was so happy for him when LisaEM became a reality - I know he worked hard on it! His contributions to the Lisa faithful can't be understated!

Ray's Lisa emulator and his stewardship of the LisaList online forum really enriched my experience of exploring this remarkable computer system. He was so generous with his time and so encouraging and supportive of others in the hobby --- I know this isn't true just for me but for lots of people. I wish I'd had the chance to meet him, thank him, and geek out about our projects in person. Thanks Ray, the Lisa world will be a different place without you around.

Where do I begin? Arsen was my best friend since Junior high school (JHS 125). Among the many things we did together, we spend many hours messing around with his array of gadgets, including his Commodore 64 and Mac (He loved that Apple 1984 commercial). We watched movies, made VHS videos (black and white camera), faux pizzas (out of white bread and Munster cheese) and got our Black belts at Cho's Tae Kwon Do in Sunnyside. We went to different High schools, but never missed time to hang out and share our deepest thoughts with each other. After college, I was the first to marry. I moved upstate, but again, we stayed in touch. Then he got married and I had the honor of being his Best Man. He was there to celebrate my daughter's 1st birthday and watch my kids grow from afar, at the same time having 2 wonderful boys of his own, and he was a great dad. He was very intelligent and never made you feel less than. He'd listen to you and occasionally give you that Spock eyebrow raise and smile when he disagreed or thought you were wrong (or foolish). He was lauded in the tech community for creating a Lisa emulator. A painstaking task that took 8 long years. He was always very giving. Anytime I went to see him, I would leave with something he thought I would appreciate. There isn't enough space to write all I want to say. So, I leave with this. He was my best friend and awesome person and we will all miss him. Rest in peace my friend. Love you, Danny
