Obituary of Miranda Wong
Miranda Wong was born in Hong Kong. She was raised in the Christian faith and grew up
surrounded by musical playing from her mother. Her love of classical music began when she
heard her mother’s students play piano while doing her homework.
At 15 years old, Miranda came to the United States to attend boarding school with her older
sister. She then later pursued her higher education at Bryn Mawr College and Teachers College,
Columbia University. One of Miranda’s accomplishments during her graduate school studies
was writing her dissertation on pedaling which has been utilized by some researchers and
pianists.
Despite her high achievements in education, Miranda devoted herself to serve God, her family,
and others. She volunteered her time playing the piano during worship services for Covenant of
Grace Church. In addition to playing the piano, Miranda conducted children and adult choir, and
took part in the children and young adult ministries. Besides helping the church, Miranda found
joy in being a part of the Piano Teachers of Long Island (APTLI), spending time with her family,
taking walks, and reading the Bible.
Throughout her life, Miranda faced many adversities. She suffered losing her father as a young
adult and losing her sister to cancer. After Miranda got married, she took care of her ailing
mother while raising three young children. Miranda also struggled with her own health problems,
including cancer. Despite all her challenges, her faith in God never faltered. Instead, they drew
her closer to Him, and He gave her the strength to carry on with fortitude.
Miranda will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Although we will
miss her, we are comforted to know that she is experiencing inexplicable joy in the presence of
Jesus. We know that we will reunite with her again when Jesus returns.
